Out and About
Watergate Bay is 1 mile from Trevarrian Lodge and is a great place for surfing, kite surfing, bodyboarding or just enjoying the beach. It is home to the O’Neil surf school for which we are able to offer you a 10% discount voucher on group lesson.
Watergate Bay is also the home of Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall restaurant, serving lunches and evening meals.
Newquay is 4 miles south of Trevarrian along the coast road, and on the way you will pass Porth beach, which is great for young families. Newquay offers a range of beaches, surf shops and eateries. Fistral beach on the headland is home to avid surfers and several competitions are held here each year. Newquay Zoo and the Blue Reef aquarium are also worth a visit as is the newly opened cinema. From the harbour you can take a boat trip with Paddlefish Adventure or enjoy a fishing trip on the Mystique with Wayne at Fish Newquay.
Padstow 8 miles north of Trevarrian is a beautiful fishing harbour with narrow streets and little boutique style shops. Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant, Fish & Chip shop and deli’s can be found here. During the summer months bands play on the harbour’s edge in the evening making a night out here a must. You can also take a boat trip to Rock or hire a bike and cycle the Camel Trail to Wadebridge.
From Newquay airport you can fly to the Isles of Scilly with Skybus. Day trips are available or if you choose to holiday there we will be happy to combine overnight stays with us and parking for your car.
Other attractions in the area include The Eden Project, Cornwall’s Crealy, Dairy Land, Lappa Valley Steam Railway and Hollywell Bay Fun Park & Golf centre. Leaflets on attractions some including discount vouchers are available from the stand in reception.
