Fantastic location and charming place just a shame about the first night.

Pros: Beautiful old property with lots of character. Great location for enjoying Porthleven and surroundings.

Cons: We were disappointed that on arrival the heating was not working and the downstairs was very cold (blustery weather in December). The owner was easy to contact and explained that the previous guest has turned everything off which had caused a problem with the night storage heating but he hoped it would come on within 4-5 hours (we arrived at 4pm). He tried to tell me that the hot air upstairs from the fire would in fact circulate downstairs and warm it up? There was a small heater in the wardrobe that kept the chill from the children’s room, and the heating did finally come on in the early hours of the morning but I had spent most of the night keeping the fire going! Just took the fun away from the first night and not what you expect when you pay premium prices. Need to have more heaters as a back up plan ❄️

someday we will return to this accomodation and enjoy this place longer.

Pros: The sound of the sea through the open window, the fireplace and then spending the evening in a cozy atmosphere, followed by breakfast in the morning—that's all you want after a day of hiking and before the start of a new one. We did not meet, but by message the host was really cooperative and approachable.

Wonderful stay

Pros: 2nd visit this year so as lovely as last time cosy and warm and comfy .. Lovely welcome tray with goodies always well received .

Cons: A microwave would have been useful for warming food but nothing else.. all good

This place is definitely well worth a stay and I will definitely be booking again it was just amazing 🤩

Pros: The location was just right for us, a nice walk down to the harbour for a drink/dinner, easy access to the beach. The welcome pack was the best we have ever had and the vases of roses were just a beautiful touch!

Cons: There was nothing we didn't like.

Porthleven is a wonderful place to visit & The Old Stores cottage is full of charm!

Pros: Hi, Firstly I have to say that Porthleven was a fascinating place to visit. The fishing port & town is very quaint with stunning views. I personally think it is one of the most scenic places I have visited on the south coast. We were a-gasped at how sweet the harbour looked when we approached Porthleven on our late arrival with the lights surrounding the harbour walls giving us a magical view of the boats, sea, rustic houses + views. The cottage is located in a lovely location within easy walking distance to the harbour/town + beach. The host was very accommodating & was happy to allow our dog to stay at the property.

Cons: I would not go as far as to dislike anything about The Old Stores as the rooms are lovely & rustic. However, I am used to more up-to-date mod cons so it took a little getting used to for our short stay. Of course this is what is to be expected from a property that dates back to around 1805! In all a very interesting, artistic, rustic & characterful property that is run by a considerate, friendly & helpful host. BTW it is best to travel in a small car if possible to manoeuvre around the narrow roads. Thanks Mark!

Lovely quirky accommodation and nothing to fault, we will be going back again.

Pros: Fantastic location, everything on your doorstep, great pubs, restaurants and take away's but order by 8pm as most places stop serving food at at this time though apparently there is a Chinese that is open later but we did not try it.

Cons: Small double beds, so better suited for couples and kids that are used to sharing beds than 3 friends, perhaps?
