Enjoyable overall

Pros: We love the peaceful and spacious countryside location with easy access on foot to the little beaches and coast footpaths on St Anthonys head.

Cons: The mattress on the bed in the master bedroom is uncomfortably soft and the bed is small for two adults. It would be wonderful if this bed were changed for next year! For the first time for us, (we have stayed at Place Barton several times) there were a LOT of young pheasants about. One of our young dogs unfortunately did run through the pheasant pens - and a number were killed. We spoke with the keeper and apologised and are mortified and saddened about this but really didn't know that they were there initially. It then became tricky avoiding the young birds even with dogs on leads and safely under control, as the birds moved up onto the tracks and lane and were in the hedgerows by Meadow house at dusk. Please do warn future guests about the close proximity of young birds!
