Merchants Manor Spa

Great hotel, great service... Food served and room exceptional!

Pros: Lovely overnight stay at Merchants Manor Spa... Staff very helpful, room spacious and evening meal delicious... Would return.

Was really good - enjoyable - easy to find. Not far to drive to many different interesting places.

Pros: Bed - really comfortable- shower not easy to work out - instructions would have been helpful All staff really pleasant, friendly and helpful. Very Quiet - and relaxing. Large room with two easy chairs - needed after much walking. Breakfast great - more than enough and good choice. Very nice and comfortable lounge areas .. warm and cosy - could be separate from others if wished. Cleanliness - brilliant - throughout. Swimming pool great . -Lovely fluffy gowns and towels and use of spin dryer was great.

Cons: The jacuzzi was not great - I found it difficult to get in - age 75 and a bit creaky - not a proper jacuzzi experience. The constant texts message encouraging me to sign in to the hotel before I got there ...the system didn't work ... my date of birth was apparently not accepted! Also more texts to sign out... boring. What's wrong with a member of staff being on hand to welcome and say goodbye.... AI lacks a human touch. Or just tell us to sign out on the computer in the reception... we were tired out from walking and had to think twice about where to sign out as there was no member of staff there checking out. No Southern Comfort in the bar.....a small thing but the bar was a bit sparse for choice in my opinion. Not having a member of staff checking us out - I was confused... until I spotted the screen. (We had been welcomed by a member of staff)

Pros: Close to the town. Lovely building and friendly staff.

Cons: Wouldn't say it is what I didn't like. But if you are booking it because it is a spa hotel. The spa is very small. So don't book if you are wanting a full spa experience. But fine for what we wanted and needed. Breakfast, good range of choice and quality of food was good. But seems like the chef couldn't cope for Sunday breakfast. It wasn't over busy as out of season, yet we had to wait over 30 mins for cooked breakfast. Also the potions of cooked breakfast is very small. Truth be told not worth £14pp.

It was my 60th birthday so we were upgraded to the Look Out which was fantastic,met all needs Thanks

Pros: The Bounty one breakfast was excellent and the kitchen staff were very professional and polite. The outlook was spacious and cosy in the evenings and the balcony was a joy.

Cons: Missing door handles on wardrobe far end bedroom. No where to sit and dry/straighten hair, mirror hidden near curtains very dark. Hot tub could of been deeper.

Perfect welcome to a stunning hotel.

Visiting family

Pros: The facilities at Nerchants Manor are great, the hotel room was nice and quiet and the pool area clean and relaxing. Although we didnt have an evening meal in the restaurant, the restaurant (used at breakfast) was clean and pleasant.

Cons: We visited out of season, so there werent many staff around. Im sure in the summer months they'd have a full compliment of staff.

Friendly beautiful hotel and dog friendly

Pros: Extremely friendly staff. Brilliant hotel for our dogs. Steam and swim was clean and relaxing. Room was lovely and warm and beds were made every day. Would highly recommend and will be back when I next visit.

Pros: It was authentic and stylish. It had a modern vibe with a touch of authenticity about it. Made you feel right at home. Very comfortable & cosy rooms. Staff were very friendly. Always welcoming and polite. The leaving gift was a nice touch also. Pool facilities looked clean and inviting. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in the area. 5 stars from us!

Cons: Breakfast took a little long and was slightly greasy. But other then that it was all lovely.

A nice hotel close to the beach and town with great staff.

Pros: Great hotel in a perfect location for a short walk to the beach and about 10-15mins into town. Swimming pool and steam room were a good bonus but be aware pool is very shallow at one end. Did not use the gym but it was very well equipped. Breakfast over both days was cooled to order and very nice with plenty of options. Room was really nice with large bathroom and roll top bath. Staff could not have been more helpful or friendly.

Cons: Lovely room and yes designed for couples but no desk in the room. There were people in the hotel who were traveling/staying for work and I do regularly stay in other hotels so not desk would have made in difficult to do and work on a laptop apart from sit on the bed. Bathroom was really nice but bogger than the room and with the size of the bathroom a shower unit would have easily fit.
