The Plume of Feathers

Set in the picturesque Cornish village of Mitchell, The Plume of Feathers is a historic 16th Century dining pub with rooms. As well as a bar and restaurant, you will find a tranquil beer garden flanked with ever-green shrubs and plants. Guests can enjoy free parking, Wi-Fi, and use of the electric vehicle chargers. Whether it is enjoying breakfast in the conservatory, lunch in the historic pub, or dinner beside the roaring log fire - guests are treated to menus filled with traditional pub classics with an imaginative twist - think ham an egg or lamb moussaka. The Plume of Feathers offers elegant rooms set within separate, thoughtfully converted barns and stables. The spacious rooms feature ensuite bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, Nespresso machines, monsoon showers and Bramley organic toiletries. Most of them have emperor-sized beds, and some of them have sofas and desks. Centrally located in the heart of Cornwall, Truro city centre is a 15 min drive, and the north and south coastlines are easily accessible. The nearest beaches, Crantock and Holywell, are just a 15 mins drive, and there are woodland walks nearby for you to enjoy.

Love this place

Pros: As always the staff are excellent in their customer service. The rooms are comfy and the food great. They also treat the dog so well.

Cons: My only comment would be the television. Whilst I appreciate it's not the most important part of the rooms, I always struggle to get it working. The staff also not 100% on how it works so maybe some training for staff or a leaflet for customer that clearly shows how to use.

Pros: Lovely accommodation. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Cons: We had dinner in the restaurant during our stay. The food was lovely but would of liked more choice, given it was Valentines Day a special menu would of been nice.

Pros: A lovely old pub/restaurant with loads of charm. Great friendly service and the rooms were located in cottages in the beautiful kept grounds behind the pub. Very comfortable rooms, great mattress too. The food, both dinner and breakfast, was delicious

A cosy Cornish setting, a superb hotel and restaurant, with modern guest comfort in mind

Pros: I’m a returning guest, and was pleased to find this lovely hotel is as comfortable and welcoming in winter as it is in summer. So nice to walk up through the garden to find a cosy, up-to-date style room to settle into in amongst those stone barns. Breakfast, and evening, really good food served, and I still appreciate the real veg, as I did during my previous stay. (Locally sourced veg options would be very fitting in this setting). They have a dining room set aside for guests who bring their dogs to the table; a great idea, seen from one way, or the other. The book cupboard with donation box was a nice feature by the fireplace; little things to discover and choose are always a treat during a trip away from home!
