Beautiful, stylish period property in a charming part of the world,

Pros: It was like walking into a home that was perfect. There is fabulous decor, interesting decorative items throughout the house, ambient lighting, comfortable beds, excellent bathrooms and a fabulously well appointed kitchen with many thoughtful extras.

Cons: There isn’t anything we did not like about this property.

We absolutely loved this house!

Pros: This was a fantastic place to stay. If you want something quirky, original and interesting (while still extremely comfortable and tasteful) rather than the usual bland, beigery then this is for you. Even nicer than the photos. Lots of generous and thoughtful touches. Very warm and cosy. All the rooms were great. The host communicates very well and is extremely welcoming. Lostwithiel has kept its character and has some v good restaurants.

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Such a charming but incredibly spacious place to stay with a wonderful host. The property is equipped with everything you could possibly need and cleaned to a high standard. The garden is the cherry on top and feels like a hidden oasis in the middle of Lostwithiel.

Beautiful house and great location

Pros: The house was spotlessly clean and well equipped and in a great location for exploring the local area with plenty to do on foot or a short car ride away. It was perfect for a long weekend with family. The small garden is delightful and every thing in the house is very well organised with clear instructions. There were plenty of clean linens and towels and fresh supply of bathroom toiletries, much appreciated.

Cons: We did struggle with the stair gates which did not seem to fit properly so we had to remove them and just watch the young children on the stairs. There was a crib but no high chair. The house was not really ideal for young children but we managed and everything else was so good it did not really matter. It would have been useful to have some small bowls or plates for deserts, fruit etc

Would highly recommend the Shire House to friends and family.

Pros: Excellent facilities, well equipped and well furnished house oozing with character and yet with modern decor and everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Cons: Personally the mattress was a bit too firm for my liking but I realise this will differ from person to person.

Pros: Our second visit and a wonderful family weekend at the Shire House. Everything was thoughtfully provided to make our stay extremely comfortable in this beautiful house, Thank you!

Fantastic place to stay

Pros: Great place to stay in an excellent location. Lostwithiel is a charming village with good pubs and close to the Eden Project. It is clear that the host takes great pride in providing a welcoming stay for his guests. He was an excellent communicator, very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Cons: Nothing. It was perfect.

Lovely Residence

Pros: Amazing old residence in close proximity of the town. Exceeded expectations. Rooms were really lovely and spacious. Kitchen large and well equipped. Bathrooms good. We had everything we needed for a lovely stay. Definitely recommend. Perfect for families.

Cons: The sofa in the living room was slightly uncomfortable.

Loved our time at The Shires and enjoyed being in Lostwithiel.

Pros: Location of house,close to pubs,cafes and train station. Big spacious rooms in a delightful period property. Considerate owner provided everything we could possibly need.
